Patrick Toussaint

Patrick Toussaint is at IASS since September 2015 and works as a research associate in the project “Implementing the Paris Agreement – Overcoming Barriers and Identifying Drivers for Effective Climate Governance”. His main research interests concern critical analyses of international climate law and policy. Prior to this he worked as a project scientist in the project “Environmental Law and Institutions for Air, Climate, and Sustainability” (ELIAS) at IASS.
Patrick Toussaint holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from University College London (UCL) in international environmental law and policy and a Master of Science (MSc.) in environmental technology and international affairs from the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna and TU Vienna. He is writing his doctoral dissertation in the field of international climate law with the University of Eastern Finland (UEF) on the topics of equity and justice in climate governance.
Before joining the IASS he worked for international organizations, including UN Environment (UNEP) in Nairobi and the UN Office of Legal Affairs in New York, as well as for the German development agency (GIZ) in Nairobi and Friends of the Earth in London.
