Alexander Rose

Alexander Rose is a highly sought after expert in matters involving public sector funding, particularly compliance with the UK’s Subsidy Control laws and EU State aid law.
As a Partner at DWF Alexander advises on major projects including the funding of gigafactories, large energy projects and the UK’s first spaceport. His clients include public authorities and businesses applying for funding. He successfully advised upon one of the first Subsidy Control cases heard in the UK and appeared as an expert to the Select Committee designing the Subsidy Control Bill.
Before joining DWF, Alexander was a Senior Solicitor at the Government Legal Department, providing advice to Ministers and officials at the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities on high profile initiatives and writing national guidance. In 2014, he was chosen by the Cabinet Office to be seconded to the European Commission, working in Brussels on EU State aid regulations such as the GBER.
Alexander has built an international reputation for providing high quality legal training. This includes chairing Subsidy Control events for Lexxion, as well as speaking at ESTALI. He has also delivered workshops on EU State aid law in Denmark, Italy, Germany, Belgium and Lithuania and his views on on developments in the law have been published in the Financial Times, the Economist and Le Monde.
